It’s been seven years, now, and everything has changed so much, and yet we’re still so much the same. We’re still incredibly dysfunctional. We still hate each other sometimes. Honestly, I’d like to kick him more often than I want to kiss him. But that’s us, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. There are still quite a few things we haven’t figured out yet, but we’re working on it—kind of playing it by ear at this point, and it seems to have served us well thus far. We have a long road ahead of us, but right now, I’m perfectly content lying here in this tangle of blankets, limbs and tousled hair, and I don’t think that will ever really change.
