This is pretty much a piece showing that love can withstand the bounds of time, of life, and of death. While he wants her to move on and to find someone else to love, Benjamin still wants to be with her, to protect her. He doesn't want her to forget him.

Edit: In case the people who have been following these two's story closely are wondering, Sara's hair is short because this is a couple weeks after her liberation from Dachau, and her hair is still growing back from being hacked off at the Concentration camp.
